Round 2

Last night was our night to "work" at the Candlelight Dinner. One job was to make the coffee and make sure it all got into the carafes which would then be taken away by the waiters and waitresses once dessert was served. That was job #2.
Job # 1 was pouring hot apple punch into cups which was then served to the guests when they first arrived at the big event. I was working with Mari Ellen who is a real servant...
...is never boring to be around...
...and is always ready for a good chuckle, to put it mildly!
Howard was also a part of the crew, however, when Danny showed up, Howard's focus was somewhat lost, especially when they started talking "Mennonite". There is always a great deal of laughing involved when they digress to that point!
Katy was working for her second night in the coat check...
...and also as a hostess as part of her German class requirements.
Final instructions for the waiters and waitresses.
Our German guests love the "American" salads that many of us volunteer to prepare for the evenings. We all use the same recipes in order to keep things consistent.

Here's Anna keeping her team in order.

Everyone arriving at the dinner gets their tickets and then the hosts and hostesses show them to their seats.
And the show begins! I thought that those of you who know Paul would enjoy seeing him in his costume for the evening.
This group opened the evening with a fantastic number.
Behind the scenes - two our "our" girls from Palmgarten. They are so cute!
Everyone is finally seated and suddenly the tables appear and are set up within minutes.
Dinner is over and the program begins and in comes all the goodies for dessert. This man has been donating dessert to the Candlelight Dinner for all of its 14 years. Absolutely amazing.

These young women worked with us last night and provided some much-needed stability as they had also worked the first night and knew just what to do and when to do it.
We also filled half of the carafes with water for tea. I didn't get a picture of that as I was up to my eyeballs in steam most of the time!
When it was all over we were beat. We got home just after midnight but were thankful to have been a part of this amazing outreach to our German community once again.
