A theme and variations

You are probably as tired of hearing about this as I am writing about it! But because it gives such beautiful pictures, I am writing again about another big snowfall.
On Friday we actually thought we were going to have a snowfall reminiscent of the 2005 dump we had on exactly this weekend.
But by Friday afternoon the snow had stopped and the rains came in.
There's still a lot of snow on the ground, especially higher up, so it was worth a drive to enjoy the sheer beauty of it all.

There is a very neat method of signage that they use here. The street that comes into a town from the village before it is always named for that village. It is a very intelligent and practical method.
With all the snow one sees signs like these very often. It says: "Be careful. Roof avalanche".

We came to the end of the road here and so Howard stopped so I could take some pictures and then a farmer appeared at Howard's door. They had a good chat about the weather and the snow and the fact that they hadn't had snow like this since the 80s.
As we drove away we commented on the fact that farmers are the same everywhere. Bethany wondered how he remembered that in 2005 they still had snow in March. We told her that he was a farmer. The weather controls their livelihood and they simply remember. No other explanation needed!

Thank you very much for the beautiful snow pictures. I'm not ready, but today it was spring and a week ago it was (Georgia)snow, with accum. in Atlanta. Tomorrow it is summer with 80 degrees predicted!! I often wonder exactly where the photographer is for come of the shots-in a tree-hanging off a cliff? Keep the snow pics comming(:>)...
