A Quilter's Paradise

This morning, Bethany (a great sport!) and I drove off just over an hour into the Alsace to attend a quilting exhibition, something I have wanted to do for several years. Believe me, this was a quilter's paradise! You could just feel the energy of the women at this show! Getting a picture of the quilts was an enormous challenge due to the throngs of women in attendance, so you will see only a few pictures of complete quilts.
The exhibition is actually set up in four separate villages, so the best and easiest way to see the show is to park and let the bus take you around! What a deal.
The first stop took us to an exhibit of quilts from Provence. They were amazing. The detail that had gone into these quilts was mind boggling. (For more detail, click on the pictures to enlarge them.)

Several of them were like this with all the stitching around and on every piece of fabric.

This quilt is a more traditional "North American" kind of quilt but it was still stunning. The work was perfect and the pieces were so tiny!

We didn't like the modern quilts as much, but the workmanship was still something to be admired.

Much, much more tomorrow!

Wow to such specialized, detailed precise work. Do these people have jobs? I have friends that I want to see these crafts.
