Bubbles, a Cookout and a View

Yesterday morning Bethany and Nowel went outside to blow bubbles and take pictures in the process. Both seemed to work out quite well.

After a few hours at the pool on a very warm day, we packed up some food and went off to find a picnic shelter and a fire pit. That is never a hard task in this part of the world, which makes having a cookout a lovely and easy thing to do.

The kids, beginning with the girls of course, had to all climb the pole in the middle of the shelter. It had obviously been left the way it was to allow people to do just that.

Believe it or not, this is a carefully roasted marshmallow. The consistency of marshmallows here make them very difficult to roast. They basically just caramelize, as you can see here. It doesn't look like something one would necessarily want to eat, does it?

After we were all packed full, we drove up to the Blauen and climbed the lookout tower. My mom made it up three flights and then had to go down. My sister, Heather, made it to the top with fear and trepidation but she did it! I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the tower, but I didn't. Maybe next time.
It was pretty hazy up top so I took a few shots on the ground. The view was glorious, as were the flowers.
