We're back!

We didn't get to see the queen...
...but we did get to see her house.
And, she was home. (When the queen is "in residence", her flag is always flown.)
Windsor castle in direct line with a flight path from Heathrow Airport, the busiest airport in the world. I wonder if the queen enjoys having these planes flying overhead all day (and maybe all night?).
As we were leaving, some guards came marching by. A great photo op!
We had a lovely chat with a very friendly security guard. He told us that the queen leaves by that large door on the right, and had in fact left that day at 2:00 for the races at Ascot. We had missed seeing her by 20 minutes!
The gardens were beautiful.

Such wonderful stonework, so long lasting. I wonder what the rejection rate was with the pieces being carved. Are all those chimney looking things really chimneys? Thanks for sending us, the ones that didn't get to go on the trip, your pictures. I want to go there now, too.
